ALLAMUCHY FIRE DEPARTMENT CELEBRATES NEW HEAVY RESCUE ARRIVAL

The Allamuchy Township Fire Department held a traditional ‘push in’ ceremony for its newest 2021 Pierce Velocity Heavy Duty Rescue truck Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

The “push-in” ceremony dates back more than 100 years to a time before fire trucks were motorized and operated with horse drawn equipment. In those days, firefighters had to actually push their trucks into the station after a call.

This modern-day tradition continues as a new apparatus arrives at its new home, and members “push” the truck into its housing bay.

The new truck will be equipped with TNT extrication equipment, Paratech lifting and stabilization equipment, rope rescue equipment, and ice rescue equipment. In addition, the truck was built with several key features, including; several winch points, rope tie down points, a DD13 Engine 505hp, TAK-4 Suspension, a Light Tower, and seating for 6.

Though the truck is built to primarily provide rescue needs, it is still equipped with fire suppression needs; including a 1500gpm PUC pump, a 500gal water tank, 20gal foam cell, 500′ 5″ supply line, 500′ 3″ with preconnected Blitz Fire, and 4 preconnected crosslays.

The truck will be replacing their 2002 Smeal Rescue Engine.
