Extrication Leads to Highway Landing Zone

March 28th, 2022

Late this afternoon, members of the Allamuchy Fire Department and Allamuchy-Green First Aid Squad were dispatched to reports of a motor vehicle accident at mile marker 16.6 on Route 80 westbound. Rescue 91-75 quickly went responding minutes after initial dispatch. While in route 91-75’s crew was advised by dispatch that it was a confirmed entrapment with one patient involved. Engine 91-63 went responding moments after 75. Upon arrival of Rescue 75 crews began hastily extricating the patient from the vehicle. Atlantic Air One was requested to land on the highway and transport the patient to the hospital. Members cleared the scene at 8:30.

After clearing the scene, crews stopped at Dunkin Donuts to warm
up after standing on the highway in 20 degree weather for hours. We were greeted by a gentleman named Ali, of the business Brooklyn Exterior who had passed the incident on his way home. Unfortunately due to the hours of Dunkin, only the drive through was open. Ali was extremely kind enough to go through the drive through and purchase coffee and donuts for the crews as a token of appreciation for the service crews provided on the highway. Ali, we can not thank you enough for your kind gesture tonight. On behalf of all the members of our department, we thank you for your selfless act.
